EDYTA OLSZEWSKA is a painter and creator of objects. She graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of
Fine Arts in Cracow. She paints and creates objects that are a combination of Baroque tenebrism and
splendor and elements taken from pop culture. In her works, she often draws on
Christian iconography and related symbols. The motifs present in Olszewska's works
are taken from the symbolism of the Passion of Christ and embedded in the space of the sacrum and other areas of culture and
religion. They are reminiscent of oneiric visions, particularly clear when combined with contemporary
female portraits, often present in the artist's paintings. In the works of Edyta Olszewska one can
also find paintings touching on these two extreme worlds, which are included in the definition of the
of the word , "Passion". Olszewska's paintings show a multiplicity and plurality of contexts taken from
from religious iconography and embedded in the best tradition of European Baroque painting,
filtered through contemporary sensibility. In 2023, the first solo
exhibition of the artist with the title "Heat" at Art Agenda Nova in Krakow.
