Juliusz KOSSAK (1824–1899) – Emperor Franz Joseph’s Entry into Kraków – reproduction.
Chromolithograph, dimensions: 48x78.2 cm. Juliusz Kossak’s watercolor was created in 1880; the reproduction shown here was produced in Hamburg at the G. W. Seitz workshop a decade later. The print is mounted on thin cardboard. There is some wear along the edges, and the damaged lower corner has been repaired.
J. Kossak (1824–1899)—an enthusiast and champion of tradition, noble customs, and the chivalric splendor of the First Polish Republic—remains one of the most popular and highly regarded artists in Poland. Considered the founder of Polish battle painting and a master of watercolor, he went down in history as an unrivaled painter of horses.
