The work depicts a Parisian courtyard at 14 avenue du Marine , where such famous Polish artists as S.Wyspianski,J.Mahoffer,,A.Szybalski,K.Laszczka lived and worked side by side. After Wyspianski's sudden departure from Paris, Laszczka settled in his atelier.
Kamienski and Laszczka attended the Academie Julian together from 891 to the sculpture class led by Antoni Mercie.
The artists maintained close contacts with the Polish literary and artistic community active in the French capital(Zenon Przesmycki, Władysław Ślewiński). An artistic record of these meetings is a drawing made by Antoni Kamienski in 1893.
