Classic French portrait painting of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, both in terms of the depiction of the model and the colors preserved. A man portrayed wearing armor covered by a cloak with a lace jabot knotted at the neck. The dominant feature of the painting is the light falling directly on the model, while the rest of the pictorial field remains in dark tones. The painting follows the typical depiction of portraits of the Orleans branch of the Bourbon dynasty, which were initiated with images of Philip I, whose heyday was during the Regency period.
