Jan BOHUSZEWICZ
1878 - 1935
He was a pupil of Warsaw painter Jozef Rapacki. He took part in the 1905 revolution, which forced him to leave Warsaw and settle in Zakopane. From there he emigrated to Italy and settled in Genoa. He made tours of Italy and was in Piedmont, Chioggi, Liguria and Venice. In 1920 he came to the country and had an exhibition at the Warsaw TZSP, in 1922 he exhibited in Paris at the Polish-French association Assosiation France- Pologne. He painted mainly landscapes, although he also painted flowers. He had a distinctive way of painting that consisted of laying down patches of pure color, which gives his paintings an unusual expressiveness, while at the same time situating his work in the trend of late Post-Impressionism.
