Banach 877. Cover slightly scuffed and dusty, scratches on the back cover, block slightly loose, localized yellowing of the paper visible especially on the plates. Third-party dedication. Publisher’s binding, dry-stamped on the lower margin of the back cover: "Hübel & Denck Buchbinderei, Lemberg." At the beginning, a color portrait of the author by Julian Fałat. 18 heliogravures based on drawings by Piotr Stachiewicz; mostly color illustrations in the text. Memoirs of a hunting expedition taken from December 1895 to March 1896, including, among other things, descriptions of elephant and rhinoceros hunts.
Józef Mikołaj Potocki ( 1862–1922)—a Polish landowner, traveler, book collector, deputy to the Russian State Duma, and Austrian chamberlain. Son of Alfred, heir to the Łańcut estate, and Maria née Sanguszek. He cared for the Sanguszek family’s Sławuck book collection, which he significantly expanded. He initiated the creation of the Potocki family archive and the publication of a monograph on the Potocki estates. He was the first European to reach Senaar on the Blue Nile. He published several books on travel and hunting, the first of which is presented above.
