Jerzy Kossak (Kraków 1886 – Kraków 1955)—son of Wojciech, grandson of Juliusz Kossak—painted under the guidance of his father and grandfather from early childhood. Carrying on and emulating their artistic tradition, he created battle scenes, historical scenes, and genre paintings featuring the ubiquitous motif of the horse. He painted works depicting the November Uprising, the Napoleonic Wars, and numerous scenes from the War of 1920. His most famous composition of this kind was *The Miracle on the Vistula*. He also painted numerous scenes of uhlans in pursuit of Cossacks, wolf attacks, hunts, and weddings. The subject matter of these works ensures that they remain popular among collectors and the public, who always flock to exhibitions of the Kossak brothers’ paintings.
