Jozef Krasnowolski (Kwidzyn 1879 - 1939 Kraków) - Polish painter, began his education in 1896 in Warsaw at Wojciech Gerson's Drawing Class. In 1898 he moved to Krakow and began studying at the School of Fine Arts there under Jacek Malczewski and Leon Wyczółkowski. In 1901-1902 he supplemented his painting studies in Munich. Upon his return, he married Salomea Turbas, who came from a peasant family, and settled in Bieńczyce, near Krakow, in a peasant cottage. In 1909 he traveled to Paris, where his works in the spirit of Young Poland were highly regarded. He was a member of several art organizations - Krakow's "Zero", Warsaw's "Odłam" and Vienna's "Hegebund". In 1914 he moved with his family to Cracow. Due to financial difficulties, he published a series of postcards with his paintings. In 1925 he temporarily lived in Myslowice, where he worked as a drawing teacher. In 1926, due to a stroke, his health deteriorated significantly. At the end of his life he was an unhappy man, forgotten by his friends, of whom only the sculptor Bronislaw Pelczarski (1878-1951) remained loyal to him.
