A very rare denarius from the short reign of Boleslaw III the Red.
Issued to the second son of Boleslaw the Pious, successor to Wenceslas, whose reign was interrupted by Boleslaw the Brave (by blinding and imprisoning him in an unknown stronghold).
Very nice luster, light bending lines. A very attractive piece for this very rare issue, achieving high ratings at world auctions.

Obverse: cross with expanded arms, with bullets and arrows in the fields. In the rim: +DAV+AV+AH.
Reverse: cross with expanded arms, with circles in three fields and three balls in the fourth field. In the rim: OVPAVAGHA+
