50 Francs, 1975—a Comoros coin issued to commemorate independence.
The obverse depicts the Badjanani Mosque, known as the Old Friday Mosque, in Moroni. The reverse features the emblem of the Comoros, the denomination of 50 francs, and the date 1975.
The coin was struck in nickel by the Monnaie de Paris. Weight: 6 g; diameter: 24 mm.
Catalog mintage: 1,200,200 pieces.
The coin is part of the “Coins of All Nations” collector’s series issued by The Franklin Mint and comes in its original envelope with a postage stamp and postmark.
The envelope is complemented by a Comoros postage stamp with a face value of 60 francs, depicting Avicenna (Ibn Sina), a Persian physician, philosopher, and scholar.
The envelope was postmarked in Moroni on September 20, 1980.
The issue is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from The Franklin Mint.
