"Iva's paintings have remained a generator of figurative associations, provoked without presenting anything that can be unambiguously named. Indefinable life forms? Internal and external anatomies? Fantastic minerals? Still lifes? Faces? Entering Iva's paintings, we are, despite appearances, far from the areas of abstraction. On the contrary, each painting has a subject that seems to be barely a step away from reality. The painter does not take this step; if one desires unambiguous readings one must make it oneself. However, he does not do it better; Ivo Nikic's painterly universe is most interesting as a parallel reality in which the real echoes and acquires a new visual sound, possible only here. Forms wander from painting to painting, cast by the painter in new visual inventions, built from erotic allusions, cosmic suggestions, phantoms of landscapes, phenomena of alternative flora and fauna."
