EXTREMELY RARE COIN TYPE
This type of grosz and date are missing from Kopicki’s catalog.
Kopicki’s publication lists only the portrait-type coin from 1625— here, however, we have the sensational 1633 issue , and in a completely new type!
On the obverse, instead of the king’s portrait, we see a scepter set within a shield decorated with floral motifs.
Sporadic auction listings—we found only three on Onebid—confirm the great rarity of this coin.
In our opinion, this is the finest piece of its kind ever offered on the domestic auction market.
Mint luster, patina, edge.
Very good appearance, especially for this type of poorly preserved grosz.
For the finest collections!
Obverse: royal scepter set within a shield decorated with floral motifs; the legend “
” in the rim Reverse: Prussian eagle with a monogram on its breast; the legend and date “1633” in the rim
