Zygmunt Acedański (1909–1991) — studied at the Faculty of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry at the State Industrial School in Lviv from 1927 to 1932. He was a member of the Lviv Association of Graphic Artists (since 1935), the Society of Graphic Artists in Kraków (from 1936), the Professional Union of Polish Visual Artists in Lviv (from 1937), and the ZPAP (from 1945). He was active in Lviv and, from 1946, in Gliwice. He was a recipient of the City of Gliwice’s art awards in 1950, 1951, 1970. He worked in painting (easel and mural), drawing, fine art printmaking (woodcut, linocut, lithography, monotype), and commercial art (posters, advertising graphics), as well as organizing exhibitions. Together with his wife, Zofia Nowakowska-Acedańska, also a printmaker, they helped shape Polish artistic life in Upper Silesia after World War II. Alongside Aleksander Rak, Paweł Steller, and others, they are considered patrons of the local artistic community and the art of this region.
