The work contains 12 full-page plates with paintings by A. Gawinski, which were created especially for this initiative. Next to each illustration a reference to a page of text. At the beginning of each of the 8 chapters a drawing signed with the artist's monogram and an initial in decorative ornamentation, in addition many vignettes, ornaments and finalics in the Art Nouveau convention.
Antoni Gawinski - painter, writer, illustrator, art critic. He painted paintings of fairy tales, fantasy, historical and religious themes. He designed stained glass windows, mosaics, bookmarks, costumes and plays. He is considered a representative of Polish Symbolism and Warsaw Secession. Many of his religious works can be found in churches, including St. Michael the Archangel in Deblin, St. Teresa in Ząbki, St. John the Baptist in Saddowne, Madonna with Child and Saints in Niegowo, Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bielsk.
"The Goda of Life" is Dygasinski's last work, a moving metaphysical treatise, born in search of an answer to the question of the morality of the natural world and the inevitability of the death of every living being. The hero of the work, depending on the situation, embodies a poet, idealist or pacifist, but also displays a patriotic attitude.
