Wood; height 40 cm.
Central Europe, 20th century.
Figure of Mary with girlish features, wearing a ruffled robe, holding the Infant with both hands with a globe in her hands. Under the feet of the Virgin Mary creeps a dragon-like reptile - a personification of Satan. Combining the image of the young Mother of the Savior with the symbolism of Immaculata - the Immaculately Conceived, trampling the serpent.
