Mateusz Wyczółkowski
Mateusz Wyczółkowski was born in 1982 in Warsaw. He lives and works in Zielonka near Warsaw. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Lodz. Currently a participant in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw.
Matthew grew up in a family with artistic traditions. His great-great-grandfather, Leon Wyczółkowski, was a leading representative of Young Poland in the trend of realist painting. His grandfather, Witold Wyczółkowski, was an illustrator and also painted flowers, portraits and landscapes. And it was he who inspired the then young Mateusz to make his first attempts to transfer his emotions to paper. Matthew initially used dry pastel and ink, and experimented with linocut and luxography. Currently, he paints with oil and acrylic paints.
The artist's works depict landscapes, still life, architecture and abstractions. However, views of nature are the most common form of expression.
