Peter Borkovics' glass sculptures are consistent in their formal and technical analysis, in which the artists explores the properties of melting, flowing and sudden hardening at a certain stage, in a certain form.
"Glass is an unpredictable material and my main interest is its manipulation and resulting behavior. My enthusiasm is focused on its way of existence as a coagulated liquid carrying internal working forces. These forces are mystical, equal in age to the Universe Gravity, surface tension, volume, light, pushing and pulling forces.... Time is essential to its operation, which gives the material a fourth dimension. I must have heated my furnace a thousand times or more , but every opportunity to work gives me a surprise. Glass and we compliment each other! I complete what the material started, and where my knowledge is not enough, the material takes over and continues the work. I often use geometric grids to emphasize the movements in the glass This is called "controlled accident", but I just find it an interesting game of manipulation.
The beauty of these solidified glass moments is not just the result of matter, but the conscious planning of controlled chance, creating a light-conducting organic crystal, light-space dissolving actual space.
