Biography
Visual artist considered a leading Polish designer of functional glass and creator of his own design school. As a young boy, he was interested in mechanics and thought about studying at the polytechnic; however, persuaded by his friend, Jerzy Antkowiak, he and his friend passed the entrance exams to the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. He studied in the glass studio of then-rector Stanislaw Dawski. He completed his diploma work in 1959 at the "Sudety" Glassworks in Szczytna, making a full set of utilitarian dishes from glass as the first student of the school. In later years, he was associated with the Artistic Glassworks "Barbara" in Polanica-Zdrój, where in 1975-89 he ran an experimental design studio as an artistic manager.
It was inspired by the artist that the "Inco" Artistic Glass Studio was established in Wroclaw. He was a professor at the Department of Ceramics and Glass and rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. His works are in many museum collections including the National Museum in Warsaw.
