Lithograph, paper, 50 x 65 cm; signed in pencil, p.d.: "Pignon 52" and l.d.: "1/95". Good condition.
The author of this print is a famous French artist working in the Expressionist style. He was a friend of Pablo Picasso and F.Leger and you can see their influence on his work. Many museums of the world have his works and there is an "Association E.Pignon" dealing with the artist's achievements. In Warsaw in 1974 at the Zachęta Gallery there was a monographic exhibition of this artist and a 50 p.catalog was published. At that time the artist brought this print as a gift. On the back there is an old hand inscription: "Gift from Janusz Kaczmarski in 1974". - This was the artist, long-time president of Zw.Art.Plastyków, father of singer Jacek Kaczmarski. The graphic is No. 1/95 and the first pieces were for the artist. It is apparent that the author took his piece No. 1 to Warsaw. Graphics with such a number hardly appear on the antiquarian market. Piece of this graphic for the Queen in the collection of the British Museum has No. 78/95. A rare graphic absent from world auctions since 2000.
