Eugeniusz Stankiewicz, known by the nickname “Get,” studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Wrocław University of Technology (1961–1966) and at the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Wrocław (1966–1972). In the early 1970s, together with Jan Jaromir Aleksiun, Jan Sawka, and others, he helped form a circle of artists associated with student culture. He served as artistic director of the Ossolineum publishing house (1972–1975) and of the graphic arts studio at the “Elwro” factory in Wrocław (1973–1976). After December 13, 1981, he was active in the independent cultural movement. From 1982 to 1985, he led the Printmaking Studio at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław. In later years, he taught as a guest instructor, leading the “Very Short Course in Copperplate Etching” at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (1986) and the “Short Course in Copperplate Etching” at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław (1992–1993). He works in commercial printmaking (posters, small prints, illustration) and fine art printmaking (metal-based techniques). He also creates works in the fields of painting, drawing (including satirical drawing), and collage (in an original style he calls the “Oszmiana School of Passe-Partout”).
