Biography
Sculptor, painter, printmaker, and installation artist. He studied sculpture at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Poznań. From an early stage, his work focused on issues of space (the DOUBLE CIRCLES series, 1962–1964 and 1967–1969). The next stage of his artistic exploration involved introducing real space into the painting in the form of a hole cut into the canvas. Berdyszak’s body of work also includes ephemeral art actions. He participated in numerous artistic events both in Poland and abroad. He received the Artistic Award from the “Od Nowa” Club in Poznań for his debut in the field of painting and drawing (1960) and the Artistic Award of the City of Poznań (1994).
