Jan TARASIN (1926-2009)
Painter, printmaker. Graduated in 1951 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Z. Pronaszko. At the turn of 1948/49 he debuted at the First Exhibition of Modern Art in Cracow. He was a member of the Cracow Group from 1962. In 1974, he joined the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and was rector of the academy from 1987-90. Since 1956, the artist practiced abstract art, without abandoning representational art, which was often inspired by photography, as in the case of the presented serigraphy.
