Biography
Tadeusz Cieślewski’s father was a graphic artist and art critic. He studied painting at the Warsaw School of Drawing under Wojciech Gerson and Kauzik. In 1895–96, he studied in Paris at the Académie Vitti and under Edmond Aman-Jean and Robert Collin. In 1898, he received a silver medal for a series of postcards depicting Warsaw. In 1928 and 1951, he was awarded the City of Warsaw Prize. He painted in oils, tempera, gouache, pastels, and watercolor. His works featured landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. He frequently painted the architecture and monuments of Warsaw. His works can be viewed, among other places, at the National Museums in Warsaw and Poznań.
