Biography
During World War I, he fought in the 2nd Uhlan Regiment of the Polish Legions; after 1918, he moved to Germany, where he studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. After completing his studies, he returned to Kraków, where he became a sculpture instructor at the School of Fine Arts. He was a master of woodcut and color linocut, the creator of many bookplates; Japanese woodblock printmakers and the Kraków school of landscape painting had a significant influence on his work. The subjects of his works included architecture, landscapes, and animals; in creating them, he employed innovative methods that experimentally highlighted the importance of lighting.
