Biography
He began his artistic education in 1918 with classes from the First State Free Studio in Moscow. During this time he established artistic contacts with Kazimir Malevich and Vladimir Tatlin. In 1921 he moved to Vilna, where he co-organized the New Art Exhibition (1923) and the Block Cubist, Suprematist and Constructivist groups. He was a member of the international group Abstraction-Creation. Since 1931 he has been in Lodz, where he co-founded the International Collection of Modern Art. After 1945, he is engaged in teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. He contributed much to the world avant-garde with his work. World critics rank Strzeminski among the top artists of the 20th century.
