Daniel Jerzy de Tramécourt—painter, printmaker, sculptor, and draftsman. He was born in 1950 in Lublin and died on January 27, 2015, in Łódź. He attended an art high school and later studied painting independently; he even obtained professional certification as a visual artist, granted by a commission of the Ministry of Culture and Art. In 1997–1998, he was a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Culture and Art. He collaborated with the puppet theater in Szczecin, traces of which can be found in his later work. He lived in Paris for several years, where he became fascinated by the work of Giacometti. After returning to Poland, he settled in Kazimierz Dolny, where he became a prominent figure and a driving force behind the local art scene. He founded his own art gallery in the town and was also a co-founder of the Kazimierz Art Confraternity. Kazimierz frequently appeared in his works—the town itself, local landscapes along the Vistula River, but also figures, primarily female ones.
