Ireneusz Walczak (Born 1961) in Świdnica. Full professor in the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (branch in Katowice). Scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and Art in 1988, winner of ca. 30 awards and honors. Participated in 300 collective exhibitions and 17 individual exhibitions at home and abroad. Winner of numerous awards and prizes around the world. The artist consistently continues the thought of the avant-garde at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Echoes of Expressionism can be felt in his work, sometimes bordering on abstraction and figuration. The artist uses a strong color, dynamics of form, the dominance of synthetic stain, juxtaposed with a strong line of drawing, where a kind of dot over the "i" becomes a differentiated texture. As he says, his work is an attempt to materialize the values and problems close to him, especially in relation to the changing reality. At the root of the creation of Walczak's paintings often lies a sociological or psychological problem or a historical phenomenon, the artist himself makes the veracity of the work dependent on the veracity of the motive for its creation.
