Marek GRABOWSKI
b. 1955 Sosnowiec
At the age of 30 he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan (graduated with honors in 1990). He works in painting, drawing and sculpture. A perverse and even rebellious creative attitude, underpinned by philosophical and aesthetic considerations and a poetic pen, must translate into an unruly and highly individualized depiction of the world. He freely and at the same time deliberately paints anti-academically, because the sensitivity and experiences of modern man do not submit to any learned, ready-made schemes. In a unique way, he oscillates between abstraction and figuration, creating highly expressive, multicolored, condensed paintings. Poetic and existential themes emerge from spontaneously created, seemingly chaotic compositions. Although he does not paint in the manner of representational realism, he is uncompromisingly realistic.
