Biography
In 1966, he graduated from the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Częstochowa. Initially, he worked in commercial graphic design; later, he devoted himself to painting, teaching himself the craft. In 1979, he became a member of the Association of Polish Fine Artists. In his paintings, he drew inspiration from the 17th-century Dutch masters of still life, imbuing his works with a sense of magical realism. He also painted portraits. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Japan, Monaco, Austria, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and the United States. In 1987, he became a member of the European Academy of Art, Science, and Literature in Paris. Marian Michalik died tragically in a car accident at the age of just 50. In 2001, an award named in his honor was established in Częstochowa for young Polish painters. To date, the winners have been Grażyna Smalej, Wojciech Kubiak, Jarosław Lewera, Małgorzata Synak-Idczak, Jacek Sztuka, and Bartosz Wiłun.)
