Signed, dated and described on the back: M. Woszczynski / Barber in Nature / 1998.
Mariusz Woszczynski's paintings open up to the viewer a world of unfettered painterly imagination, expression and the joy of painting. He is a painter of nature and culture, observations of the manifestations of life, simple activities of everyday life, surrounding reality, landscape and architecture given in the language of painting captured in the author's signs, richness of forms, outlines of figures and silhouettes, accompanied by harmony of color and humorous narration. Indeed, this is painting with anecdote, describing various aspects of human life: wandering, tourism, performing services (hairdressing), sports and recreation (weightlifters and cyclists) or guarding and patrolling. Figures are often subject to gravitational disturbances. Woszczynski reports on his travels, paints scenes from postcards and calendars. Sometimes the author annotates his works with inscriptions. A special place in this work is occupied by nostalgia for the lost Eastern Borderlands, where Woszczynski's family originated. The painter also often reaches for a sketchbook and memorably notes his observations from his travels. Born in 1965 in Warsaw. He studied at the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw with Rajmund Ziemski and Graphic Design with Rafał Strent. He completed his diploma with honors in 1990. At first he worked as an assistant in Graphic Arts under Teresa Pągowska, later under Grzegorz Pablo, and still later in Sculpture under Jacek Sienicki and Zofia Glazer. He currently runs a drawing studio at Sculpture. Titular Professor.
