Signed. AD: monogram
Stasys Jusionis (1927-2022) was a prominent Lithuanian painter, for whom nature and the Lithuanian landscape were particularly important. He interpreted the Lithuanian landscape in his own way, often reflecting the colours of autumn, old farmhouses, silhouettes of trees, and a sad or meditative tone.
Expressiveness is very important in his paintings: there is a palette of bright colours, strong contrasts, and a dense painting texture (often the paint is applied with broad gestures, creating an almost relief-like surface).
Stasys Jusionis is regarded as one of the most important Lithuanian landscape painters of the post-war period, who managed to develop a distinctive visual style, combining a traditional landscape theme with an emotional, gestural way of painting. His works are characterised by both technical mastery and inner vision - the landscape is not just a "picture", but a feeling, a memory, an atmosphere.
His paintings help to understand the aesthetics of the Lithuanian landscape - he conveys not only the images of trees and fields, but also their temporality, reflecting the context of cultural and historical changes.
