Stefan Chabrowski was born on December 23, 1937 in Częstochowa. He studied at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, in the studio of Prof. Jan Świderski and Prof. Mieczyslaw Wejman. He made his debut in 1963 at the Boccacio Gallery in Rome. Initially he took up creating abstract works, but under the influence of Jan Świderski, he turned to realistic painting, especially landscape, which became his specialty. In addition to landscapes, he painted still lifes and portraits. More than 50 solo exhibitions in Europe and the US were devoted to him, and he also took part in 180 group exhibitions. Since 1964, he has participated in international, national and district competitions and plein-airs. He received 18 awards including: Medal - Meritorious to Culture "Gloria Artis" (2010), Gold Medal Georgius Agrikola in Germany, honors at the Triennale of Drawing in Wroclaw. Three times he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art in 1968, 1981 and 1982. In 2010 he was awarded the Silver Medal "Meritorious to Culture "Gloria Artis". A member of the Association of Polish Painters and Graphic Artists (1984-1988) and the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, he chaired the Częstochowa branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers in 1974-1977 and 1980-1983. He passed away on June 9, 2014 in Częstochowa.
