German painter of the 20th century. Studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1919, in the 1920s with Fritz Burmann and Richard Gessner founded the artists' group Dreimannbund. Friendship with architect Emil Fahrenkamp, commissions to design church, insurance and industrial buildings. 1931 in Kronenburg in the Eifel, converted houses there into studios and designed street lamps, among other things. 1933 after Heinrich Campendonk professor of monumental painting at the Academy in Düsseldorf. Students in Kronenburg included Rolf Dettmann, Willi Sitte and Willi Wewer. Created mainly tapestries and oil paintings including allegories such as the youth and portraits with influences from Art Nouveau and New Objectivity.
