拍品说明
The badge of the Home Army’s 7th Infantry Regiment “Garłuch” was shaped like a shield. The upper part featured a stylized outline of mountain peaks, and below, in three lines, the inscriptions: “A,” the symbol of Fighting Poland (“The Anchor”), and “K/GARŁUCH/7pp.” The badge was made of yellow metal or silver-plated and oxidized tombac. It fastened with a clasp and had a smooth reverse side. The badge was designed by Zbigniew Justowski, alias “Lech,” and Stefan Sosnowski, alias “Rawa.” The badge was manufactured at Józef Panasiuk’s workshop.
Stefan Sosnowski, alias “Rawa,” was born on August 28, 1922, in Warsaw, the son of Rajmund and Rozalia Sosnowski. After the war, he served as a scoutmaster in the Polish Scouting Association (ZHP), a Warsaw historian, and the author of books, guidebooks, and handbooks devoted to Warsaw. He was promoted to the rank of captain in the Polish Army. He died on April 21, 1994, in Warsaw.
Zbigniew Justowski, alias “Lech,” was born on December 31, 1928, in Warsaw, the son of Edward Justowski and Eugenia (née Krzykowska). Before the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, he lived at 66 Smoleńska Street in Warsaw. During the occupation, he was active in the Home Army. He served in the “Baszta” Regiment, “Bałtyk” Battalion, Company B-3, 1st Platoon. During the Warsaw Uprising, he fought in Mokotów. He held the rank of rifleman. After the Uprising’s capitulation, he was taken prisoner by the Germans and assigned prisoner-of-war number 45292. There is no information about his whereabouts during captivity.
