The cross was made in the postwar period in the factory of Andrzej Panasiuk with the monogram RP.
The Cross of Merit with Swords was a decoration established in 1942. Among those honored with it in the country were partisans and Warsaw Insurgents. Crosses of this type of domestic production, and therefore such as this one, were eagerly worn by veterans of the PSZnZ and former partisans of the Home Army. This was a result of, among other things, the rather high cost of importing broadcast versions of the Cross from the UK.
