Poland, Congress Kingdom, Nicholas I, 10 groszy 1828, mens. Warsaw, Frederick Hunger
Billon (weak silver), 2.99 g, 19.4 mm. Plage 90; Kopicki 2647 (R).
Condition II+/II, local scarcity typical of this issue, minimally rubbed crest, patina. A beautiful piece.
According to mint reports, 528,691 dimes were minted in 1828; however, these may have been largely coins of an earlier date, as the rarity of this vintage is vastly underestimated in catalogs. Long circulation has made finding pieces in such condition quite difficult.
