Biography
He is one of the most prominent French reporters, co-founder of the Sygma agency. His most important photographs are known almost all over the world. He began his adventure with photography in 1960 by working the night shift at the Keystone agency laboratory. It was there that he had the opportunity to observe the work of the masters of photojournalism - photographers from the Magnum and Réalités agencies, who used the services of the lab technicians there. He mainly deals with socio-political subjects, but he also does not shy away from photographing events from the world of art and entertainment. He has photographed the miners' strike in England, General Franco's funeral and the Beijing Olympics, among others. He is fond of portraying landmark events in the lives of both great and completely anonymous figures. He has published in Paris Match, Life, Time, L'Express, Le Nouvel Observateur, Jours de France, Points de Vue, Revu, Das Neue Blatt, Neue Post, Stern, Oggi, Epoca, Gente, among others.
