This photograph of Rome was taken in one of the boutiques in the center of the Italian capital. The frame captures a seemingly ordinary moment, the gesture and detail create an intimate story about a person and a space. David Stube, a theater photographer, constructs a scene with theatrical tension - juxtaposing the everyday with the elegance and melancholy of urban life.
The minimalist composition and balanced tonal contrast evoke the tradition of humanistic photography, giving the image a dimension of timeless reflection on presence and loneliness in public space.
