SMS Bremen - light cruiser (small cruiser, German: Kleiner Kreuzer[a]) of the Kaiserliche Marine, the first of a series of seven Bremen-type ships. It was built at the AG Weser shipyard in the city from which it took its name. The keel was laid in 1902, the ship was launched in July 1903 and entered service in May 1904. The main armament consisted of ten 105mm caliber guns and two 450mm torpedo launchers. "Bremen" could develop a speed of 22 knots. Armament and armor was the work of the Krupp plant. The "Bremen" did most of its service in the Atlantic, including ten years before the outbreak of World War I. It returned to Germany in 1914 before the conflict began, and when the clash of the superpowers became a reality it was diverted to the Baltic, where the opponent of the German fleet was the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Empire. In August 1915 he participated in the Battle of the Gulf of Riga, but did not distinguish himself with anything special. Four months later, on December 17, she ran into two Russian mines and sank, taking most of her crew with her.
