Defense of Lviv, also known as the "Battle for Lviv," a Polish-Ukrainian armed confilct that lasted from November 1, 1918 until May 22, 1919. It ended with the remoteness of the Ukrainian army from the territory of Lviv and the surrounding area and the regaining of control of the city by the Poles.

"In the fighting in Lviv on the Polish side up to and including November 22, 1918, 6022 people participated with weapons in their hands or in auxiliary services, including 1374 common and secondary school and university students. 2640 were under 25 years of age. 439 soldiers and members of the military sanitary service died or died from wounds, including 12 women. 120 of the fallen were students, and 76 were university students. 29 of the fallen belonged to the relief forces of the city under the command of Lt. Col. Michal Karaszewicz-Tokarzewski. Of the Defenders of Lviv at the time, one was only 9 years old, seven were 10, and two veterans of 1863 were 75." [after wikipedia.pl]
