Bronze case; 7.5 x 12 x 12 cm, in the form of a hexagonal casket supported on acanthus legs; stepped molding around the base of the cornice. Glazed windows in the side walls, through which the frgments of the mechanism with engraved floral decoration are visible. Lower case plate hinged, with dwonk. Top plate with applied silver-plated ring with black Roman hour scale and one iron openwork pointer. In the center of the dial engraved decorative cartouches with inscriptions: A. Will; Thorn. Mechanism with spring drive, balance regilator with balance drum and with Gall chain.On the lower plate of the mechanism engraved: Thorn / Abraham Will. Cocoon with engraved floral motifs. On the lower plate in black paint: 1657
Abraham Will / Weil / Wiehl / Wilk / Witt (d. 3.04.1755), a native of Wandesbeck near Hamburg, citizen of Thorn since 1696, active from
1704-1755, guild elder from 1710-1745 (6 times). He made household clocks, but also tower clocks (prestigious commission from the City Council to make the tower clock of the Old Town Hall, 1726-1728). The master's workshop operated until 1761, run by Elizabeth Will.
Abraham Will was versatile in terms of the variety of types of clocks he made, among which are, in addition to the most numerous tile clocks, tower clocks, cabinet floor clocks and plate clocks. He used conservative artistic forms (modeled on the Gdansk tiles of Benjamin Zoll) and mechanisms, but also innovative technical solutions.
