Marian Konieczny owes much to X. Dunikowski. He adopted his principle that only "sculpture made on reason - lasts. Based on feelings - can only dazzle". Since 1958, he was a teaching and pedagogical employee of the Faculty of Sculpture at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. From 1972 to 1981 he was the rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He participated in numerous competitions for the design of monuments, for which he won prizes and awards (including first prize in the competition for the design of the monument to the Heroes of Warsaw-"Nike Warsaw" 1959). He made monumental sculptures primarily for social commissions and it is to them that he has devoted most of his time so far. He also made sculptures for his own internal needs. These are primarily cycles of sculptures entitled Daedalus and Icarus, Motherhood and Dance of Life. They form the second stream of his sculptural work.
