"The Way of the Ancient Lithuanians, Highlanders and Samogitians is one of the most important books for the formation of the historical and national consciousness of the Lithuanians of the 19th century. It is written in the Lithuanian language, in the so-called folk script, and is famous for its archaic words and dialectal forms. The book describes the idealised lifestyle, morals, customs, language, everyday life, relationship with nature and God of the old Lithuanians.
