Ceramics: Silesian BOX
- Porcelain cup by Hermann Ohme
Porcelain, enamel; 7.5 cm x 7 cm
Condition: Very good (slight rubbing of gold-colored elements)
The Ohme Porcelain Factory was established in 1882 in Nieder-Salzbrunn (today's Szczawienko in Silesia). It was a medium-sized factory, but quickly gained a reputation for the high quality of its products, which unofficially competed with those of its powerful neighbors - Tielsch of Stary Zdroj and Krister Porzellan Manufaktur. The economic crisis of the early 1930s, however, proved devastating for the plant. The company, basing its income almost exclusively on foreign sales, did not survive the collapse of the markets and declared bankruptcy in 1930.
