Biography
After being displaced in 1945, he settled in Silesia, in Zabrze, the most industrialized region of Poland. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in 1960. He actively participates in nationwide exhibitions and competitions, where he has received numerous awards and honors, including second prize at the 1st National Competition for Easel Paintings in Łódź in 1970 for the painting titled “Dom” and an honorable mention for “Śląski blues.” At the Warsaw Poster Biennial, he received a gold medal for an environmental-themed poster in 1974. He is a theater and film set designer. For many years, he collaborated with the STG Experimental Theater in Gliwice, where he received numerous awards for set design and staging alongside director Edward Mołek, particularly for the sets of *Spring* based on Bruno Schulz’s work, “The Factory of the Absolute” by K. Czapka, “The Travelers” based on his own screenplay, the set design for “The Twilight of Babel,” and many other productions. He also collaborated with director Ryszard Waśka on his short films, which won awards at the Brussels Film Festival. He was the set designer for Andrzej Kondratiuk’s film “The Maiden, the Archer, and the Scorpion.” He writes lyrics, composes music for them, and performs them in his spare time as a guest at “Piwnica pod Baranami” in Kraków.
